I wouldn’t dare start this article saying anything about the ‘new normal’, BUT it does seem that life is feeling a bit like the glory days of pre 2020. While there is still illness; the world has sorted out many mechanisms to help keep us safe, productive, and moving forward. That being said, we look to our September 25-27 Boston conference with optimism and eagerly anticipate shaking hands (or at least bumping elbows) with many of our international colleagues again after a two year hiatus.
Registration has launched for the September event, and I am so pleased and proud to share that ABC is again being strongly supported by our generous sponsors including Chubb, Global Aerospace, Aon, Gallagher, Marsh, McGill and Partners, Price Forbes, Willis, FM Global, Fitzpatrick & Hunt, Pagano, Aubert, LLP, Tokio Marine Kiln, Epic, and Thomas E. Sears, Inc. We also have an impressive collection of speakers including a presentation by Aon President Eric Andersen. Please be sure to review the conference schedule to ensure your calendar is free to participate in our speaker sessions. The agenda will include a wide range of topics including:
• Decision Making for Unmanned Aircraft
• Aviation Safety During a Crisis
• 5G Interference Issues
• Space Exploration
• Air Traffic Recovery
• NASA Artemis Missions
• Hypersonic Flight and more!
All event details are found on the ABC website conference pages.
We are also excited to try out a new Boston property, the newly erected Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport. The hotel is in the dynamic Seaport District, which is a convenient three miles from the airport and steps from Boston Harbor. The venue also boasts a rooftop pool that is open year-round and I may just be travel-starved enough to try a toe-dip in the pool on the east coast in late fall.
ABC held its Spring Board Meeting in London earlier this year and we were glad to welcome our newest Trustee, Jeremy Hovater of Seagers Aero Corporation, to his first official Board Meeting. The meetings confirmed ABC’s programs remain strong including the main program offering a capacity up to USD1b, the U.S. Portal offering aviation products and grounding liability up to USD50m, and Aviation Product Recall developed for Tier 2, 3, and 4 suppliers and providing a limit of USD20m. A one page summation of the benefits of the ABC program may be found at this link on the ABC website.
Dictionary.com notes there are eight pandemic words and phrases people absolutely never want to hear again and ‘new normal’ is one of them. And perhaps it is a sign of accelerated recovery that many of these words are less prevalent these days. Therefore, with bated breath, I will tuck away my face mask into a deep crevasse in the hope that pandemic words such as ‘speaking moistly’ never need to be spoken again. I wish you all a wonderful summer, and I hope to see you in September!

The hotel reservation link will be available in May. Please help ABC reduce costs by only booking the room nights you need. Booked hotel rooms dropped prior to the event may lead to costly attrition for ABC. Once the ABC block of rooms is filled, this rate will no longer be available. Reservations made after the cutoff date of August 19, 2024 will be subject to a rate increase and availability.
